About BlueSci is a student society at the University of Cambridge and was established in 2004 by three students keen to sharpen their science communication skills. The flagship production is the triannual magazine - BlueSci. Online news also goes up every Friday, as well as videos and podcasts throughout the year. The Magazine BlueSci is Cambridge University's premier student science magazine. Since it's launch we've had 15 issues, written over a quater of a million words and seen pages and pages of work pass through our editors' hands. The structure of the magazine has been fairly consistent throughout the years. Each issue has about four or five features written by any students at the University. Articles are submitted anonymously and the best ones selected by the team (see submissions for details). Each issue has FOCUS section where there is an in-depth examination on a variety of topics. Recent were on Science and the Media, Imaging the Brain and Becoming Superhuman. Plus regulars written by the in-house staff such as Away from the Bench, A Day in the life of and many more. Email editor@bluesci.org for more details. Online News The online news provides a great forum for students starting out in science writing. Articles are summaries of cutting edge research, providing quick turns-arounds. The current news editors are Suetha Suresh and Katherine Thomas. Email news@bluesci.org for more details Filming and Podcasts BlueSci owns high quality film and audio equipment that is available for its member to use. Recent projects have included a trip to CERN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AW48qqUT5c). Email film@bluesci.org to find out more.
